Your Questions, Answered

  • GoodDog Co provides thoughtfully guided hikes and attentive in-home dog care throughout Southern Maine. Our services are designed for dogs who thrive with outdoor time, structure, and steady human guidance—whether they’re exploring the trail or staying comfortably at home.

We believe great care starts with understanding each dog as an individual. Every dog has different needs, preferences, and energy levels, and our approach reflects that. We take the time to get to know you and your dog so we can create the best experience possible—for everyone involved.

  • Our hikes typically last several hours and are designed to give dogs meaningful time outdoors—not just a quick outing. The focus is on exploration, movement, and enrichment in a real-world trail environment.

  • Trail time is guided with safety as the priority. Leash use depends on the environment, group dynamics, and what’s appropriate for each dog. Our goal is always to allow dogs to move naturally while maintaining structure and control.

  • We keep packs intentionally small to prioritize safety, supervision, and a positive group dynamic. Group size varies depending on compatibility, conditions, and the needs of the dogs involved.

  • Hikes are best suited for dogs who enjoy being outdoors, can handle stimulation, and are comfortable in a group setting. Energy level, age, and experience all play a role, and we’re happy to talk through whether our hikes are a good fit for your dog.

  • The Intro Hike helps us understand how your dog moves through the world—on the trail, around other dogs, and with guidance. It allows us to set expectations, build trust, and ensure group hikes are safe and enjoyable for everyone.

  • Safety guides every decision we make. We choose trails carefully, manage groups thoughtfully, and stay attentive to changing conditions. Dogs wear GPS collars on hikes (unless they have their own), and we remain actively engaged throughout the outing.

  • Trail plans and walks are always adjusted with weather, safety, and your dog’s comfort in mind. If conditions require a change, we’ll communicate any schedule adjustments as early as possible, and no later than the day before the hike.
