Adventure Dog Hikes

Adventure Dog Hikes are the heart of what we do at GoodDog Co.

Our hikes are structured, small-group outdoor experiences designed around movement, exploration, recall, and calm engagement with the environment. Each outing takes place on carefully chosen trails along the Southern Maine coast, where dogs can move naturally, build confidence, and spend meaningful time outdoors.

Why Adventure Dog Hikes?

Dogs benefit from more than a quick walk around the neighborhood.

Time on the trail provides opportunities for movement, sensory engagement, problem-solving, and exploration in a real-world environment. Varied terrain, changing environments, and purposeful activity can help support balance, confidence, and overall well-being.

For many dogs, outdoor experiences like these offer an important outlet for both physical and mental energy.

Our Approach

We keep our hikes intentionally small to support calm group dynamics, attentive supervision, and thoughtful handling on the trail.

While hiking, we reinforce:

  • reliable recall

  • calm behavior around distractions

  • redirection when needed

  • trail awareness

  • focused attention in real-world settings

Every dog moves at their own pace, and we prioritize compatibility, safety, and comfort within the group.

Intro Hikes

Every dog begins with an Intro Hike before joining future small-group hikes.

Intro Hikes allow us to assess comfort, trail readiness, handling, recall, and overall fit within a hiking environment. Most Intro Hikes are conducted one-on-one, though dogs from the same household may occasionally be introduced together.

This process helps us build safe, positive group experiences for both dogs and handlers.
